QRS Complex The QRS complex duration is measured from the beginning of the Q wave to the end of the S wave. Normal duration is up to 0.04 second in cats, 0.05 second in small dogs, and 0.06 second in large dogs. A QRS complex that is too wide indicates left ventricular enlargement (Figure 4-27).

Normal QRS width is 70-100 ms (a duration of 110 ms is sometimes observed in healthy subjects). The QRS width is useful in determining the origin of each QRS complex (e.g. sinus, atrial, junctional or ventricular). Narrow complexes (QRS < 100 ms) are supraventricular in origin. Broad complexes (QRS > 100 ms) may be either ventricular in origin, or due to aberrant conduction of supraventricular complexes (e.g. due to bundle branch block, hyperkalaemia or sodium-channel blockade).

The QRS complex can be classified as net positive or net QRS complex a group of waves seen on an electrocardiogram, representing ventricular depolarization. Called also QRS wave . It actually consists of three distinct waves created by the passage of the cardiac electrical impulse through the ventricles and occurs at the beginning of each ventricular contraction. The QRS width is useful in determining the origin of each QRS complex (e.g. sinus, atrial, junctional or ventricular).

Widening of the QRS complex may reflect delayed conduction in the His, bundle branch or purkinje conduction system. Morphology of the QRS Complex Q Wave.

It consists of a collection of waves which represents the ventricular depolarisation. Its duration ranges from 0.06 s and 0.10 s. It can present different morphologies depending on the lead (read QRS complex morphology). Q wave: if the first wave of the QRS complex is negative, it is referred to as Q wave. Regular narrow QRS complex tachycardias are a common problem encountered by general internists or family practitioners. Although such tachycardias often occur in patients with a normal heart and seldom represent life-threatening conditions, they may cause bothersome symptoms. The key to approaching the diagnosis of these arrhythmias is identifying atrial activity (P waves) on the surface 2020-08-20 · Narrow QRS tachycardia is defined as a tachycardia (heart rate >100) with narrow QRS (duration <120 ms).
